APPLICATION OF ARTICLE

After reading the article written by Yuki about Effective Leadership Behaviors, it is clear that their may never be enough research done on the topic of leadership. There are so many different aspects and traits to being a leader that they have made multiple categories for leaders to associate with, with allowing for change between them all based on situations. With the results from the surveys that were conducted combined with the knowledge that we already have about leadership theories from past blog posts, the overall result showed that effective leaders tend to have a high concern for more task objectives and interpersonal relationships. For example, they use specific types of behaviors that are relevant for their leadership situation. This is not exactly ground breaking news to us, as we already know that there is no perfect recipe for being a great leader, but it is a mixture of different traits that are needed based on different situations.

From this, I have observed and can interpret this all to mean that our situations have some direct control over the type of leader that we become. How we grow up and what morals we are raised on will have an influence on what we consider to be a good leader. The type of work or career that we choose will be influenced by those factors and that determines the type of role you have in the workplace. For example, if your parents were in the military and raised you with an authoritarian type of leadership, you might like that style and pursue a career that requires a leadership role with strong discipline skills, like maybe HR. Or maybe you are like me and your parents didn't really give you too much direction growing up and were forced to make a lot of decision on your own. This has lead me to be a quick thinking leader that can make decision for others. Based on this observation, I believe that Yuki was onto the idea that leadership is determined by situations, and those will determine the type of leadership that is needed for the position.
